If a tree falls in the forest

Blogging has two very real risks.  Number one is that nobody will read a word I write.  Number two is that someone will actually read this blog.  It is a lose-lose undertaking.  It means I should write every entry with the expectation that no one will read it, but with the understanding that someone might.  That juxtaposition is exactly why I have been thinking about taking up blogging.  I do not intend to make money, create a following, or even change anyone's mind.  My goals are more selfish.  By blogging, i'd like to:

1. Improve my writing skills.
2. Improve my argumentative skills.
3. Learn something.
4. Challenge my thoughts.

I welcome all criticism on my view points.
