Getters and Setters
Every so often I run into an article that preaches against the use of getter and setter methods. I always read it, think to myself that looks novel, and then go right back to using getters and setters. Getters and setters, while often obnoxious and mostly boilerplate code, are JavaBean standards relied upon by most all useful tools used for real development. Database abstractions. Check. JSTL. Check. Property editors. Check.
